Great to have NZ drummer/producer Julien Dyne in the studio after being blown away by his Phantom Limbo EP last year, and especially since he wasn't in town when I was visited by his Opensouls bandmates Jeremy Toy (aka Ota), Tyra Hammond, Isaac Aesili and Bjorn. I was looking forward to some fresh Kiwi beats, and Julien didn't disappoint, previewing material earmarked for a new solo EP/album, new Opensouls album, an amazing harp-led instrumental for a Tyra & the Tornadoes EP (Stepney/Axelrod fans check this!) and part of a work-in-progress with no less than Om'mas from Sa-Ra Creative Partners and Mark Pritchard.
What I played seems quite insignificant in comparison, but I must say I'm loving the Danny Byrd tune - one for the 'Inner City Life' fans!
